Zoar Valley Rope Rescue and Union Structure Fire
Fri. Sep 20th 2019

The past 24 hours have been busy for your Seneca Hose firefighters. We have had 10 calls for service including 3 major incidents.

The first being a mutual aid call with the Erie County Technical Rescue Team to Zoar Valley for the report of hikers trapped on the side of a cliff. 5 Members from Seneca Hose responded with Rescue 5 and assisted with victim packaging and retrieval. Members operated on scene for approximately 6 hours before returning to West Seneca. While the team was out of town, a rollover Motor vehicle accident occurred on the Seneca Street on ramp to the 400 which was handled by an additional crew on Seneca Hose Engine 1.

Later in the evening around 9:30pm, Seneca Hose Rescue 5 responded to a Motor Vehicle Accident on Ridge road near the Route 90. Upon arrival it was found the patient was trapped in the vehicle and needed to be extricated using our Hurst Jaws of Life.

Then early this morning at approximately 1 am, Seneca Hose was requested mutual aid to Union Fire Company, West Seneca Fire District 2 for the reported house fire on Clinton. Engine 1 responded and operated on scene for approximately 2 hours before returning to District 5.

As always, we could not do what we do without the support of our mutual aid partners. Thank you to the Woodlawn Fire Company for standing by in District 5 while Engine 1 operated at the house fire in Union.
