Engine 1 responded within 2 minutes of initial dispatch and arrived on scene first due. The crew found heavy fire showing from an attached garage and stretched a handline while simultaneously Engine 1’s operator used the deck gun to knock down the main body of fire with tank water. East Seneca Engine 1 arrived shortly after and fed Seneca Hose with a feed from the hydrant.

Chief Seufert and Commissioners Spilsbury and Gretzler are currently in South Carolina for the final inspection of our new Rescue 7 vehicle. This vehicle will serve as our primary response unit for all EMS calls and will replace the 2004 Ford Excursion currently in use. Seneca Hose Engine 1 responded mutual aid to Reserve this afternoon for the reported shed fire. Enroute a large column of black smoke was visible from the fire station. Crews arrived to find a large garage with heavy fire conditions, being fueled by numerous propane, acetylene, and other chemicals. There were multiple vehicles also burning as well as attached and detached outbuildings.
